How Xiaomi is flashed via MiFlash.

You can flash Chinese phones for various reasons. The most pressing reason can be considered the release date of a newer OS version. It is, as a rule, more stable in operation, which allows you to significantly speed up your smartphone and get rid of numerous bugs. Xiaomi is a striking example of a manufacturer from the Middle Kingdom. Let's look at the method of flashing from a standard operating system to the so-called Global one in the Redmi Pro 4 phone. This is the most popular version among all the others. But in general, the described method is relevant for any device in this line.

Where can I download global firmware?

Don't tempt fate and look for update packages on third-party sites. Such actions increase the risk of turning the phone into a “brick”. At best, you can get away with the appearance of numerous error messages. Therefore, we visit the official Miui forum, decide on the version of your phone and download the appropriate global firmware. Here is the download link - en.miui.com/download-320.html.

If you need a firmware file for another Xiaomi model, then open the downloads tab – en.miui.com/download.html and select your model there. Firmware can also be found on popular resources like 4PDA, where you can get advice on installation. I would advise using the off-site, as the latest versions are posted there, immediately after the release date. On average, a new update is released every three months.

How to flash Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro

Here are video instructions for installing directly from your Xiaomi 4 Redmi Pro phone.

Firmware options for “dead” or blocked Xiaomi

If you cannot work with the phone itself, you should use your PC to flash the firmware. According to the standard, we need a native USB cable.

In the last couple of months, due to workload, there hasn’t been enough time for “creativity”, but since the topic of firmware for Chinese smartphones is very popular, I couldn’t ignore another budget masterpiece from the Middle Kingdom. So, today we will install the official international firmware on the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime smartphone, which has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM. Don't get confused! After the global update is released on Xiaomi Redmi 4, I will create a separate article for it.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime smartphone came to me with pre-installed firmware of unknown origin. Information about the device stated that it was running the global version of MIUI 8.0.5.0 Stable, but the presence of a large number of untranslated places meant that this was a “left-handed” firmware. Which definitely needs to be demolished, especially since the global one appeared the other day.

The presence of official international firmware makes life much easier for ordinary users who do not want to bother with unlocking the bootloader and other crap. It is enough to install the minimum required software on your computer once and change the firmware. Further updates will be installed automatically as new versions are released.

Well, let's get started.

Take into account! Since we are going to install a different type of software, I highly recommend doing a factory reset. Therefore, you should worry about the safety of your data in advance. Also make sure that the battery is charged more than 60%, ideally it should be 100%, in order to be able to resuscitate the smartphone in case of force majeure situations. As the author of this article, I do not bear any responsibility for your devices. Everything you do, you do at your own peril and risk. However, if something goes wrong, you can write to me and I will try to help you.

Method 1

The easiest way to install firmware is to use the built-in Updater application. But it doesn’t always work, as there are a lot of nuances that need to be taken into account. This method is also considered one of the safest, since the system analyzes the installed software and if the requirements are not met, the device simply will not be updated.

Download the archive with the firmware to the internal memory of the smartphone. Find the Updater application shortcut on the desktop and launch it.

In the application that opens, click on the three dots located in the upper right corner and select the item Select firmware file (Choose update package).

We point to the previously downloaded archive with the firmware and click on the button Ok.

Since the firmware type is different from the installed one, the system will offer to delete all user data. Click on the button Erase and update and watch the process. If you forgot to make a preliminary backup, you can cancel the operation and return to the update after saving your files on third-party media.

The firmware process itself takes about 3 minutes, after which the smartphone will reboot and after 5-10 minutes you will see the initial window. Subsequent updates will be installed without resetting the data. If for some reason you were unable to install the firmware using this method, then move on to plan B.

Method 2

The second method may seem more complicated, but it only seems so. If you strictly follow these instructions, then no problems should arise.

We install the necessary drivers and utility for XiaoMiFlash firmware on the PC. Turn off the smartphone and switch it to EDL mode; to do this, simultaneously press two volume buttons and connect the phone to the computer using a microUSB cable. After the smartphone vibrates, release the buttons. In this case, there should be nothing on the smartphone display. If the drivers are installed correctly, the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COMX) device will appear in the Device Manager, where X is the COM port number.

Download and unpack the archive with the firmware to your computer. Launch the XiaoMiFlash application and specify the path to the unzipped firmware. After pressing the button refresh The computer display should show the following picture, with the exception of the COM port number, yours may be different.

Also don’t forget to select in the bottom line clean all to prevent any problems from occurring after the update. To start the process, click flash. Flashing a smartphone takes about 3-4 minutes.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime smartphone received a stable version of MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM. On January 11, 2018, the first users began receiving the V9.2.3.0.MBEMIEK update for Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime via OTA.

Previously, the update package was already available for Redmi 4/4X and Redmi Note 4 Snap (powered by Snapdragon 625 processor). Also at the end of December 2017, the update began to arrive to owners of XRN 4 MTK. The version of Note 4 running the MediaTek Helio X20 processor caused the most controversy, since the firmware for it was initially recalled and appeared only two months later.

Redmi 4 Prime received MIUI 9 Stable

Finally, the developers got to the Prime version, which is not inferior in technical characteristics to the rest of the Redmi line. It also became known that Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime was released this year.

Owners of XRN 4 MTK already had similar disappointment after the release of 9.2.2.0.MBFMIEK.

But, fortunately, the Redmi 4 Prime smartphone runs on Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625. Therefore, users should not lose hope and wait for the Xiaomi developers to fulfill their promise.

For the first two weeks, the update package will be delivered selectively via OTA (archive size 381 MB), after which the developers will post links to download the official release.

  • Link to Recovery archive. Size – 1412 MB.
  • Link to Fastboot archive. Size – 1622 MB.

Dear users, if you have not received the notification, please be patient and wait for the next batch of updates.

What to expect from MIUI 9 Stable for XR 4 Prime?

As already written above, the first stable nine firmware is based on Android 6, so many popular functions will simply not be available.

Popular bugs: problems with optimization and battery. The smartphone will begin to discharge faster.

The Redmi 4 line of smartphones from the Chinese company Xiaomi has quickly become popular among consumers in the market. Therefore, it is not surprising that the fourth generation was released in several main models at once. One of them was the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime phone with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. Traditionally, the manufacturer offered it a price that even the world leaders in the field of mobile technology cannot compete with. The difference becomes especially noticeable if you order a smartphone directly from China. But there is one small drawback here - such a phone is equipped with international firmware, and the translation into Russian is not done very correctly.

If you get your hands on just such a gadget, you will have to reflash it. On the Internet you will find various modifications of custom firmware with high-quality Russian translation, and one of them will need to be installed on your device.

Also, sometimes you have to look for the answer to the question of how to flash Xiaomi so that the smartphone can update the software itself. Usually, the firmware can be updated automatically, “over the air” (via WiFi). But if for some reason the update is no longer installed, you can independently find out which firmware version is current and update the device to it.

Today we will talk about ways that will help in both situations. Our simple guide will show you how to update your Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime and install new software on it.

Preparing to change the firmware

First of all, keep in mind that changing the firmware or updating it is directly related to deleting all data on the device. Therefore, think about where you can send the files from it, wait until they are saved.

When saving the data is complete, put the smartphone on charge and wait until the battery is 100% charged. This will help solve possible problems during the firmware change (for example, if the phone is frozen).

Updater app

The easiest way is to use a convenient application Updater. Using it, you guarantee the safety of the phone upon completion of the procedure, because the system scans the software before installation. If the program is considered dangerous or does not meet the standards, its installation will not take place. The algorithm of actions in this case is as follows:

  1. Download the latest current global firmware (Stable ROM) from the official website via the link http://en.miui.com/download-320.html to the internal memory of the device.
  2. Launch the application Updater (Settings - About device - Update) and click on the icon with three dots (in the upper right corner), and then indicate the path to the downloaded archive.
  3. The system warns you that user data will be deleted. We agree with this, because we have already saved all the necessary files on another medium.
  4. We wait about three minutes, after which the smartphone will automatically reboot. The first boot takes about 5-10 minutes, and then the initial window will appear on the main page, where you need to set standard user settings.

If you did everything correctly, then in the future the update will be installed automatically as soon as it is released.

How Xiaomi is flashed via MiFlash

Sometimes Updater for some reason it is not working properly. Many Xiaomi users face this problem. We will offer an alternative option for them. With its help, you can install unofficial firmware or any version of the official ones - the choice is up to you. It may seem that the method is more complicated than the previous one, but in fact it is simple if you follow the instructions given.

  1. Download the program to your computer.
  2. Download Stable ROM Global here: http://en.miui.com/download-320.html
  3. Download and install
  4. We put the phone into EDL mode by turning it off and instead of turning it on, hold down the volume up button and unlock the phone.
  5. We connect the phone to the computer via a USB cable, and if you used the correct drivers, then in the device manager you will see a device called Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 with a COM port number.

  1. The archive with the firmware must first be unpacked, and then using the MiFlash program, specify the path to the installation file. It must contain only Latin characters.
  2. Click on “Flash” and wait for the new firmware to install.
  3. Turn off the phone, and after waiting again for about 5-10 minutes while rebooting, you can proceed to the settings.

In this way, global firmware or any custom firmware is installed. This will help if the phone is not updated or you are not satisfied with the installed firmware. To better understand the procedure, we recommend watching one of the training videos on Youtube.

Don’t be afraid and flash your phone yourself - you will definitely succeed!
