Existing Password Types
But first, let's figure out what types of passwords are in Android smartphones exist today. To summarize, they can be divided into three categories:

Classic Android passwords

An interesting feature has appeared on new versions of Android Smart function Lock, which locks the phone in certain circumstances. You can find it at Settings - Security - Smart Lock.
Most often, smartphones have 4 options for such blocking, but new models also feature facial recognition.
Physical contact- This is a setting to lock the device so that it will always be unlocked when in your hands. As soon as you put the phone on the table, the device will instantly lock. Safe places are asked with using GPS. So, for example, by assigning your work location to your smartphone, it will stop blocking your phone at your workplace.

What types of screen lock are there on Android?

- Drawing or graphic key. The 9 dots are arranged in three rows and you must connect any of these dots to use this pattern every time you unlock. Security level is average!
- PIN code. You enter any numbers from the keyboard and then use their exact sequence to log into your smartphone. You can enter from 4 to 16 digits. Security level - medium or high security, depending on the number of digits and their complexity. I hope you understand that simple ones are easy to pick up at random, so to speak. - Password. You enter any characters from the keyboard and use this sequence to access your smartphone. This is, of course, the most effective protection — high level security. Unlike the PIN code in in this case Not only numbers are used, but also other symbols.
- Face control. Some smartphones also have this method of blocking. To unlock your phone, you will need to use a photo of your face. The password is inconvenient and extremely unstable. Firstly, anyone similar to you can gain access, and secondly, it is not a fact that you will always be able to gain access.
- Fingerprint. Common on Apple phones and some other smartphones. Convenient way unlocking, since you do not need to enter a password or draw a pattern. You just need to put your finger up and that’s it! However, if the screen sensitivity is low, then it is better not to use a fingerprint, as this will create inconvenience for yourself.
How to set a password on Android
Now I will answer the question of how to set a password on Android version 7.1.1.
Step 1:
Open your phone menu and go to settings.

How to set a password for an Android application
Sometimes there is a need to screw up some application. In general, I don’t recommend doing this, but if suddenly something very important, then let’s get started. It will be possible to block direct access to the gallery or SMS messages, for example.
The most suitable program for this is Bear Lock. You can download it completely free from the store. Google applications Play.
You should also remember the note. If you've unlocked the app, you can open it without a password until you lock your phone.
What to do if you forgot your lock code
This is a very unpleasant case that may lead to the deletion of all applications and system files.
You can restore access to your phone without deleting all files only if you remember the password. And the second option: try to open the smartphone using Google account. - PIN code. Introduced standard code of four or more digits. The higher the number, the stronger the password.
- Regular password. Similar to the previous case, with the exception that it allows you to enter not only numbers, but also symbols.

Some new models of Android smartphones have a fingerprint scanner. This is one of the most reliable methods of protection. You don't have to remember complex combinations and therefore waste time entering them. Simply place your finger on the scanner and the phone will be automatically unlocked.
