The fastest way to remove people from a photo

Often you have to get rid of strangers in travel photos or in pictures that were taken at events. To get started, you need to install the PhotoMASTER program on your computer. You can download the distribution from our website:

The program is lightweight, so installation will take about 5 minutes. Follow the on-screen prompts: review the license agreement, select the installation folder, and create a shortcut for quick access to the program in the future.

Then you can launch the editor and remove the object from the photo. Open the snapshot: click on the corresponding button in the start menu or drag and drop the desired file directly from Explorer. Use a RAW, JPG, PNG or any other image. There will be no problems with compatibility - the program reads all modern graphic formats. Go to section "Retouch" and activate the function "Stamp".

In the Retouching section, select the Stamp tool

A list of possible settings will appear:

  • size,
  • shading,
  • transparency.

In most cases, you only need to change the size: the brush should be slightly larger than the area you want to paint. Need to remove multiple items of different sizes? In the future, you will be able to adjust the scale of the tool.

Now you need to remove unnecessary things from the photo. Hover your cursor over the area you want to hide. Hold down the left mouse button and drag over the stranger. A translucent white highlight will appear in the designated area.

Release the mouse button. Two containers will appear on top of the photo. One will be located in the location you have designated. The second one must be dragged to the location from which you want to copy pixels to fill the selected area.

Color in the stranger in the photo

Click Apply. The program will remember the changes made. Continue working on the photo and improve it using other tools or save the result by clicking on the corresponding button above.

By analogy, paint over all other unnecessary elements in the photo and save the result.

Removing unnecessary objects from the photo

The “Stamp” brush allows you to get rid of not only people in photos, but also remove unnecessary objects of a different type from the photo. However, there are situations when it is better to use other tools. In this section, you'll learn how to work with them: here we'll take a closer look at the healing brush and the background replacement feature.

This tool is suitable for removing small elements from photographs. In part, it is similar to the “Stamp” we are already familiar with. The work begins with adjusting the size, feathering and transparency of the brush. Next you need to click on the problem area (or paint over it if the area is large). When you release the mouse button, the program will automatically mask the unwanted object, replacing it with a suitable texture.

  • Replacing the background of a photo

If foreign objects and people occupy more than 60% of the photo, then it is easier to retake the frame or cut out the object from the photo and place it on a more pleasant and attractive background. This can also be easily done in the PhotoMASTER program. Upload a photo and go to Tools > Background Replacement. Use a green brush to mark the shape to be cut out, and a red brush to mark the background to be removed.

In this tutorial I will tell you how to use the tool Clone Stamp Tool(Stamp) remove the person from the photo and restore the background.

Lesson materials:

Step 1

Open the Old Couple photo and create a new layer above the background.

Step 2

Activate Clone Stamp Tool(Stamp) (S).

To successfully use Stamp, you first need to determine the source (the point that will be cloned). To do this, simply hold down the key Alt and click in a suitable place in the image, then start drawing. You will draw with the pixels you cloned. Now that we have figured out how the tool works, undo the last action (Ctrl+Z) and deactivate the checkbox Aligned(Alignment) in the top options bar.

Now, one by one, we take samples of the sources around the woman and use the Stamp to paint over her. Unfortunately, there are no universal recipes for how best to use the Stamp in any specific case. Try to completely paint over the woman. Don't worry about the repeating pattern for now, we'll fix that later.

In the screenshot, red circles mark sources for samples (Alt+click).

You should end up with something similar.

And do not forget that each stage of cloning must be done on a new layer. After the first stage we have a background and one new layer.

Please note that despite my best efforts, there was still a terrible repeating pattern in the photo (this is a side effect of using the Stamp). In the next step we will fix this.

Step 3

Create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N) and use the Stamp to try to carefully get rid of repeating patterns.

Please note that at the level of the man's feet the grass is sharper than further (at knee level). Let's try to achieve the same result on the left side of the photo. We take a sample of sharp grass and carefully paint it over, trying to avoid repeating patterns.

The flowers in the background look unrealistic, so we continue to clone them to the very edge of the document. Don't forget: new layer (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N) and Stamp.

Step 4

The result still looks unnatural. Create a selection of grass on the right side, press Ctrl+Shift+C to copy it, then create a new layer (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+N) and paste the copied area (Ctrl+Shift+V). Move the copied grass to the left side of the image.

Add a mask to the same layer Layer - Layer Mask - Reveal All(Layer - Layer Mask - Show All) and use a soft round brush of black color (B) to remove the hard edges on the copied grass. Thanks to this, we will carefully merge the new piece of grass with the background. Repeat this process several times to cover up other bad areas of the photo.

Hello, dear visitors of the Pixelbox website!

Many of us have had to deal with a situation where a photograph, thought out in composition and beautiful in subject, is spoiled by an unexpected person, bird, etc. wedged into the frame. What should you do - throw away/delete the damaged photo? Of course not! There are several tools in Photoshop that help you easily and simply remove an unnecessary object from a photo.

1 way

How to remove unwanted items using Content-Aware Fill

There is a photo from the sea, but everything is spoiled by the guy in the background, who, moreover, has his back turned. Opening the photo in Photoshop (Ctrl + O).

The easiest and simplest way to remove a guy from a photo (no crime, just the magic of Photoshop!) is to use the function Content-Aware Fill. This function appeared in Adobe Photoshop CS5 and peacefully migrated to subsequent versions of the program.

In order to take advantage Content-aware fill, you must first select the item you want to delete. You can do this in any way convenient for you, I used the tool Lasso, tool hotkey - L.

We circle the guy with the mouse “with reserve”, not right next to each other:

Go to the menu Edit-Fill:

In the window that appears, select WITHContent-Aware Fill:

Naturally, we press OK and this is what we get:

To remove the selection that prevents us from admiring the beauty of the water, click Ctrl + D:

Magic! Easy and fast! For those who are not looking for easy ways, I will tell you another way to eliminate any unnecessary object from a photo.

Method 2

How to remove an extra item using the Clone Stamp Tool

Tool Stamp (Clone Stamp Tool) allows you to disguise unnecessary objects in the photo, replacing the defective area with the desired area that you choose. Tool hotkey - S.

At the top settings panel tool, you can select on which layer the cloning will take place - on the active one, on the active one and below, or on all layers. If you choose the first option, on the active layer, remember - all changes will occur on the main layer. I do not recommend using such a destructive method of photo editing; it is better to create a layer on top of the main one and select "on active and below"- in this case, you can always adjust the cloning layer.

Create a new layer (click on the create a new layer icon in layers palette):

Make this layer active:

And holding down the key Alt, take the area next to the guy, release the key Alt transfer this area to the guy, and to “attach” the area in the right place, click left mouse button.

So gradually, taking areas that are located near the object to be removed, we paint over the guy:

I hope the lesson was useful to you and will help you create high-quality and beautiful photos!
