The main features of the iPhone X. Wireless and fast charging

Last night, Apple introduced new devices in the iPhone line, the main one being the iPhone X, dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the company's first smartphone. Tim Cook said that he will determine the development mobile technologies for years to come. But is this true? We have collected for you the 10 main innovations that set the iPhone X apart from its competitors.

Screen

The smartphone has an ultra-clear OLED display with a resolution of 2436 x 1125 and a pixel density of 458 ppi, occupying almost the entire front panel. There is no longer a Home key, since unlocking is carried out using Face ID. The screen supports HDR, as well as True Tone, changing color scheme depending on ambient lighting. The top of the display is partially covered by a camera and sensors for facial scanning. In the “ears” on the sides of the camera, useful information such as battery charge and communication quality indicator is displayed,

Face ID

For the sake of a frameless display, the company had to sacrifice Home key. Now to unlock you just need to bring your smartphone to your face. Facial recognition occurs using two cameras (front and infrared) and multiple sensors, making it possible to remove the lock even in complete darkness. The technology also eliminates the possibility of unlocking a device using a photo of its owner.

Payment by card now also requires facial confirmation, and for this you do not need to lean close to the device - just look at it, and the smartphone itself will understand that you are you.

Filling

iPhone X received the A11 Bionic processor, like the younger iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. The company claims a 25-70% increase in performance compared to the previous generation of processors, which is likely to once again make Apple the most powerful smartphone in the world.

Wireless charging

Battery

The company said that the iPhone X will be able to live two hours more on battery life than the iPhone 7. Considering the comparable body sizes, this is simply an excellent indicator. But the main innovation is the addition of fast charging functionality. Now the iPhone can replenish half its charge in just 30 minutes. Of course, with the purchase of additional adapters.

Camera

The camera in the new iPhone has received significant improvements. The main 12-megapixel dual camera has become better at shooting in the dark. Portrait mode also received improvements thanks to the work of neural networks and new modes for simulating different lighting.

The maximum video recording quality has increased to 4K at 60 fps, and Slow-mo is now recorded in 1080p at 240 fps.

The front 7-megapixel camera now allows you to take selfies in portrait mode with a background blur effect and record videos in FullHD format.

AR

AR became known at WWDC-2017, where this technology was discussed special attention and predicted a great future. And for good reason.

It is already supported by millions of devices, making iOS the largest augmented reality platform. There is a high probability that with the release of this technology, many familiar things will change. Apple itself showed an excellent example: You came to a football match, pointed your iPhone camera at the field, and captions immediately appeared above the players, and a Twitter feed with a discussion of the match crawled to the right. And there are a great many such examples.

Real cyberpunk and nothing more!

Memory

Finally, Apple has decided to abandon 32 GB devices! Now there are only 2 versions left in the line: 64 GB and 256 GB. Considering the increased quality of photos and videos, perhaps next time the company will abandon the 64 GB model.

Animoji

With facial motion capture, you can now animate Emoji characters and share them with your friends. Perhaps this little thing can change the usual communication in instant messengers and give Emoji a little humanity. Who knows, maybe soon emojis will replace the usual “:)” in messages.

Price

Prices for new iPhone starts at $999, making it the most expensive Apple smartphone throughout its history.

Mobile communicators made by Apple differ from everyone else, and it is no coincidence that their family received proper name"iPhone" in contrast to smartphones from other manufacturers. IOS, developed by Apple specifically for iPhones, has many secrets and features unknown to most users. We present the most useful of them.

Playback stop timer

This feature is very useful for those who like to listen to music or an audiobook before bed. Now they don't have to fight the nap to wait for a song or chapter to finish and stop playback. You can calmly fall asleep, and the timer will turn off the device itself. You can find it on the clock box, and turn it on by setting the “stop” button in the “on completion” section.
In case of malfunctions, freezes, or a sharp decrease in performance, a forced reboot quite often helps. This applies to any computer devices and the iPhone is no exception here. To quickly reboot it, you need to hold down the “On/off” and “Home” keys simultaneously, waiting until the screen goes dark (up to 10 seconds). After this, you can release the keys and the device will reboot on its own.

However, it should be remembered that it is not recommended to abuse a forced reboot. This is a last resort and should be used as rarely as possible. If after forced reboot your iPhone cannot be restored in any way, you should contact Re:Store - iPhone repair of any complexity. Highly qualified iPhone service specialists in Ukraine will help your phone.

Unique vibration

Standard vibration mode scheme for text messages any user can change it to his own creation. To do this you need:
- Open “settings” and open sequentially “sounds” - “melodies” - “vibration”;
- Go to “create vibration”;
- Turn on recording and touch the screen with your finger at the desired frequency. Stop recording and save the created vibration. You can find it in the “user” list, vibration subsection. Thus, the user has the opportunity to create unique vibrations for all his contacts.

Cleaning the RAM

You can increase the performance of your device by cleaning it RAM. This is done like this:
- Press and hold the power off button until the corresponding slider appears.
- Without performing the standard “swipe” on the shutdown slider, press and hold down the “Home” key.
- after 3-7 seconds the screen will begin to flicker, and then the desktop image will return to it. The OP of any Apple device will already be completely cleaned, which will have a positive effect on performance.

Variable rewind speed for video and audio

The rewind speed can be adjusted by moving the slider. If it is in the yellow zone, then rewinding occurs quickly; when moving to the red zone, it is halved. The slowest rewind mode is activated when the slider is placed in the green zone.

Calls to extension numbers

If you need to call a phone number from extension number, you must first dial the main phone number, then briefly press the asterisk and after the comma icon appears, enter additional digits, and then make a call.

Choosing a direction when shooting a panorama

This function is performed by pressing the arrow on the display.

Troubleshooting

If an error was made when typing a number, then deleting any of the outer digits is done by moving your finger in the input field on the desired side of the number.

"Field Test"

Using service codes, the user can get a lot useful information. Thus, a call to *3001#12345#* brings up a menu containing various information about the device’s SIM card, signal quality, etc.

Speed up Wi-Fi

Using the option " Wi-Fi Help", you can easily force your iPhone to automatically switch from slow Wi-Fi to faster 3G/LTE.

Construction level

In addition to such options as a calculator, clock, compass, the iPhone is also equipped with a building level. To enter it, you must first open the “Compass” and swipe your finger across the screen to the left.

To be honest, there are more of them.

November 3 Apple started sell . I received the smartphone new design, powerful hardware and lost its resemblance to previous models. The flagship has a lot of interesting things, and today we will talk about five features that we liked the most.

Display

First iPhone difference X from previous models - 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display. It occupies the entire front panel, with the exception of a small part at the top, on which it is located speaker, camera and a number of sensors. New screen brighter and more contrasty compared to LCD in and other models. Black looks richer and white looks more natural.

The main element is the TrueDepth camera. It scans and remembers the owner's face so that he can unlock the display, pay for a purchase or download an application from App Store. Thanks to this component, Apple abandoned Home buttons with a fingerprint scanner on the front panel. Works new method authentication is not a fraction of a second than Touch ID, but the creators say that recognition accuracy has increased to 1,000,000:1. This small fee for increased safety and convenience.

Camera

Behind the new design and Face ID, you might not have noticed the third important improvement of the iPhone X. This is the camera. It's still double, but it's placed vertically rather than horizontally like the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus. In addition, both sensors received an optical image stabilization system - it’s harder to ruin pictures with trembling hands.

Inside dual camera iPhone X components have changed. The wide-angle lens has an aperture of ƒ/1.8, and the telephoto lens has an aperture of ƒ/2.4. More light enters the camera, resulting in more detailed and high-quality images. Even in low light conditions - photo of a foggy evening in a big city the best for that.

Battery

Capacity iPhone battery X is 2716 mAh. This is less than last year's iPhone 7 Plus. Knowing about the problems with autonomy, we did not hope that latest model will long lasting smartphone. And they were wrong.

Apple engineers took the unusual step of splitting the battery into two parts. Although there are two compact batteries installed inside the flagship, the device lasts longer on a single charge than the iPhone 8. Tom’s Guide journalists can verify this again. They took the new iPhone, Galaxy Note8 and Pixel 2 XL and compared the smartphones in a battery life test. iPhone X did not take first place, but the result was acceptable - 10 hours 49 minutes. Probably, after updating to iOS 11.2, the battery life on a single charge will become even longer.

Frame

Yes, glass is heavier than aluminum. Yes, it is more fragile. Yes, the steel frame scratches faster. However, the iPhone X with glass front and rear panel looks gorgeous.

New appearance flagship makes it stand out from the models recent years, the design of which was not fundamentally different. If you want, the glass case with a metal frame is a reference to the iPhone 4, which was released during Steve Jobs’s lifetime, something like gratitude for the decision to use new materials in the creation of smartphones. And now the iPhone X charges wirelessly - with an aluminum back panel this would be unrealistic.

Pavel Gorodnitsky tested the flagship iPhone

Last week, Apple held a very uncharacteristic action: journalists and bloggers close to the company received a new iPhone not on the day of the world premiere, but two days before the start of sales.

Accordingly, by the time of release there were already dozens of iPhone reviews X, which monstrously resembled each other. There was a feeling that Apple gave the authors a certain template according to which they needed to write the material. Most likely, this is a delusional assumption, but the standard nature of the texts was objectively off the charts.

“iPhone X is a wonderful smartphone that will take some getting used to, but then everything will be absolutely cool. Apple has ruined everyone again,” this universal phrase concluded almost all reviews of the new flagship.

As far as I know, Apple is very jealous of negative reviews, so I understand those who smoothed the corners and softened all the radical language. People are well aware that any criticism could cost them their friendship with the company and their iPhone next year. It is more logical to close your mouth in time than to spit into the well.

Face ID? Similar story. The phone scans the face like a finger, and then reads the face like the same pattern on a pillow. One convenient way unlocking was replaced by another. There is no particular difference in the sensations - I don’t understand why Apple can be praised here.

Some people were probably excited by talking animated emoticons, but let's be honest - this trend will last even less than Prisma. Now on Twitter they organize flash mobs and record Animoji karaoke, but in just a week such clips will already seem old school, and in a month - just vulgar and ancient.

In fact, Animoji is a dead topic because the feature is only available on the iPhone X and only in iMessage, and the video length is limited to ten seconds. Too many limits to be a hit. If Apple is counting on something, then the corporation needs to port Animoji to all messengers as soon as possible, otherwise this feature will painfully fail.

Firstly, Apple itself admitted that the pixels on the display can burn out if you turn off auto-brightness. This is the company’s second important compromise in two years: in 2016, Tim Cook imposed a Jet Black case for the iPhone 7 to protect the device from inevitable scratches.

The second problem with the screen is white, which, due to the nature of the technology, looks more like light gray. Minus number three is the viewing angles: when you turn the screen, everything quickly turns blue.

Of course, the OLED screen has its advantages (for example, rich blacks and great contrast), but personally, I find it much more comfortable to work with the IPS display of the iPhone 7 Plus.

Another pseudo-advantage of the iPhone X is wireless charging. I tested the device in tandem with the Qi adapter, but did not complete the experiment in order to avoid breaking the flagship, which heated up as if it was in hell in a frying pan.

By the way, this happens periodically with the “ten” even when normal charging, and even just under heavy load. At first the phone becomes warm, and after a couple of minutes it becomes extremely hot. In addition, an increase in temperature affects the sensor: it begins to miss touches. This is a widespread problem, and it will apparently be solved by optimizing the firmware.

Nothing is clear about the reliability of the case either. Every day, photos of cracked iPhone Xs are uploaded to the Internet, and IT news sites write about the astronomical cost of repairs - from $250 for a broken screen, from $550 if both panels (back and front) are broken.

Of course, Apple does its best to attract attention to branded cases, but they destroy the whole concept of bezel-less and make the iPhone an ordinary phone.

This iPhone true did not give me ecstasy. Perhaps because Apple created high expectations. Or because of the astronomical price. Or because I change my iPhone every year and can't enjoy the leaps and bounds of progress.

For example, my colleague, who took the iPhone X immediately after Xiaomi Redmi, enjoys every second of interaction with the new Apple smartphone. I can’t do this - the healthy metal 7 Plus still seems more practical to me than the glass iPhone X. Moreover, last year’s phablet is much cheaper than the “ten”.

I have no doubt that Apple will sell the iPhone X in huge quantities, but, in my opinion, no paradigm shift has occurred: under the guise of a revolution, people were robbed of terrible money for a nice piece of glass and steel.

September 12 Apple company presented the futuristic iPhone X. The public has already expressed their “fie”, rightly noting that we have already seen the main innovation, namely the frameless screen, from Samsung. However, the iPhone X has many other innovations that are implemented on the smartphone market for the first time.

1. Face ID

The idea of facial recognition to unlock a device is not new, but no technology has ever been perfect. Famous for always doing everything wisely, Apple introduced the TrueDepth ultra-precise 3D scanning system in the iPhone X, which, together with machine learning guarantees 100% recognition, even if you haven't shaved or are wearing glasses and a hat. By at least, that's what Apple said.

2.True Tone

This technology first appeared in iPad Pro and she does very simple thing- Adjusts screen colors and white balance to suit ambient lighting conditions. As a result, the image on the device always looks as it should. True Tone is now available on iPhone X.

3. 4K at 60fps

For the first time, Apple implemented 4K video recording in the iPhone 6s. By that time, there were already many smartphones with the same function, but only the iPhone could make videos of unlimited length, and even with cool image stabilization. But the iPhone X became the first smartphone that learned to record smooth 4K video at 60 frames per second - just what you need for dynamic scenes.

4. Slo-mo in Full HD and 240 fps

Yes, there is one smartphone that can shoot slower video - this Sony Xperia XZ Premium, which can handle 720/960p. However, when it comes to Full HD resolution, the iPhone X is ahead of everyone with 240 frames per second. This is not just slo-mo, but ultra-quality slo-mo.

5. Animoji

Funny animated emoji in Apple Messages. The TrueDepth camera, which is also responsible for Face ID, creates a mask of your face based on the movements of 50 muscles. iPhone X then applies this mask to a virtual animated character, so it mimics your facial expressions exactly. You can even record audio messages this way.

6. Portrait lighting

When taking portraits, iPhone X brightens or darkens areas in the frame in real time. This is how a smartphone imitates different types lighting: stage, backlight and others.

7. TrueDepth Camera

Such front cameras it hasn't happened yet! Yes, the resolution is only 7 megapixels, but the camera can blur the background, so selfies look like they were taken on a DSLR.

8. True Tone Quad-LED Slow Sync Flash

The True Tone Quad-LED flash was already present in the iPhone 7, but in the iPhone X it received the Slow Sync mode, which is necessary for night and evening photography in order to accurately illuminate the subject and at the same time work on the background. Here's how it works: the camera shutter fires a long shutter speed, and the flash sends out a short pulse of light.

9. Chipset with neuroprocessor

Apple included a dual-core neural processor in the A11 Bionic chipset, capable of performing up to 600 billion operations per second. It was thanks to him that such innovative iPhone chips X, like Face ID, Portrait Lighting and Animoji.

10. Truly solid screen

Apple was not the first to create absolutely frameless smartphone with a full screen. However, it was she who managed to occupy the maximum possible area of the front panel with the display, getting rid of areas both above and below it.
