General description of the Navitel Navigator program on Android

The history of the Navigation Technologies Center company, which is developing and supporting the program, dates back to the end of 2006. This moment marks the first official release of Navitel. The development itself began several years earlier. From that moment on, the glorious history of this navigation system began, which provides detailed information about the terrain in the Russian Federation, the countries of the former Soviet Union, as well as in many European countries, in particular Eastern Europe.

Understanding the features of the application will not be difficult. All buttons are designed in such a way that the user can even guess their purpose. Therefore, there should be no problems with control. After turning on for the first time, you will be asked to read the license agreement, warned about the dangers of using navigation maps while driving, and also offered to download maps from the official store. If you have a license key, Navitel cards will be installed for an unlimited period of time. But, if there is no license, you will be offered to work in the application for a trial period limited to six days.

If you wish, you can view the quality of signal reception from GPS satellites yourself.

This method works for all versions of Garmin navigators, except PC versions of the system; in the latter case, failures are possible. First you need to unlock your navigator. To do this, you need to find out the device ID. Simply turn on your Garmin, select Tools, then go to Settings, and then select System. The top field will indicate the ID and multi-digit number. Copy it onto your computer (for example, into a notepad).

Installing maps on Garmin

The navigator itself is capable of working with four navigation maps. Each card should be renamed according to the principle:

• Gmapsupp.img - your map,

• Gmapprom.img - your third map

In this review we will install one card. To get started, connect your Garmin in data transfer mode. Maps can be freely distributed in the form of several options:

1. As an EXE file

• Installing EXE type cards

Typically, maps are automatically installed in the C:\Program Files\Garmin folder. By default, it may contain REG files, which should also be manually transferred to this folder on the device and run the REG file. Running the registry file is necessary to recognize the map in the system using the MapSource program. In any case - either it is a self-extracting archive, or a group of files - you need to transfer it and open the REG file on the device.

• Installation of IMG cards with FID number.

For cards with the IMG extension, you should find out its FID number. Usually it is indicated in the name of the card on file hosting services. You should create an unlock for this card. Rename the map according to the principle described above Gmapsupp.img must be present, then if you need a second one - Gmapsup2.img, a third - Gmapprom.img. Save all FID numbers of the cards you want to work with

1. Launch KeyGen (in the downloaded archive).

Then we launch Garmin, open the MapSource applications until we see a list of maps we have installed. We launch the desired map, then use the zoom function (ZOOM) until we see the map in the entire screen of the device. Then click on Map Tool, select those parts of the map that we need (usually this is done to save space). Selected areas turn pink. Then click the Send to Device item with the navigator connected to the PC. In this case, the device replaces GMAPSUPP.UNL, so for the changed card you will need to generate a new UNL or rename your main card.

Typically, a map for a navigator is sold on CDs, DVDs or Micro SD memory cards, etc. But here it all depends on whether you have a very ordinary car navigator, for example, a navigator, or whether you need maps on a communicator, laptop or tablet with GPS support.

The thing is that on advanced devices (which are not ordinary navigators), maps can be easily downloaded from the official websites of manufacturers of cartographic products. Programs for managing maps and navigation in general are also available there (you can also pay via the Internet). All this is installed on the ROM of the “advanced” device, and after that you can use it.

Maps for GPS navigators, recorded on discs, are installed on the computer using special software (for example, for Garmin navigators this is the Map Source program). Then, from the computer they are sent to the GPS navigator. For example, you can download a Navitel map for the navigator navigator to your computer, and then upload it to the navigator via a USB cable. In the same way, GPS maps from BECKER or any other non-Chinese navigator are updated.

You simply insert the memory card into the GPS navigator. It already has an operating system that allows you to work with the card. Thus, if desired, the card can be installed independently.

Installing multiple cards

Perhaps it’s worth mentioning one more possibility (so that there are fewer questions for beginners). Do you know how to put several maps in a navigator, and what is it for? Firstly, within one navigation program, you can use several maps and switch them in the settings (say, for different regions, or even for one region). Secondly, even ordinary navigators are made with simultaneous support for several navigation programs (you will select the one you need when starting the navigator), and for each of them you can install your own maps. And, of course, if you own advanced devices (laptop, communicator, etc.), you can install as many programs and cards for them as you want. And all this is needed for one reason - all cards have their strengths and weaknesses. Somewhere the cities are better drawn, somewhere the roads outside the city, somewhere the houses are numbered incorrectly, etc.

What's next?

After installing the card, you need to obtain a special unlock code from its manufacturer. The code can only be used once and only to unlock the card of one selected region for only one device. It is the cost of this code that makes up the bulk of the cost of the card.

By purchasing an official kata, as a rule, you get the opportunity for free updates, which occur several times a year and take into account the emergence of new roads, road closures for repairs and other changes that are significant for navigation.

You can download maps that are distributed free of charge and are suitable for your navigator model, however, they are almost always inferior in quality to the official ones.
