To get these applications, you will not need to go to the App Store. There's an iMessage app store built right into the messages app.

In an iMessage conversation, click on the ">" button, then on the App Store icon. Apple has enabled the Pictures and Apple Music apps by default. The Pictures app searches Bing for GIFs, and the Apple Music app lets you quickly share songs and albums with friends.

Tapping the four app icons in the bottom left corner will show icons of installed apps along with a button that opens the iMessage app store. From this screen, you can change app icons or delete apps the same way you do on any iOS: long press until the icons start to shake, then rearrange or tap on the "X" to delete.

During public beta testing, the iMessage Store only contained Apple sticker packs.

Words turn into emojis.

Emoticons receive a lot of attention in iMessage. For starters, Apple has tripled the size of the emoji displayed in conversations. But the coolest feature is that it instantly converts text into emoji.

As mentioned in , you can enable read receipts or disable them for specific contacts. Previously, the read option was turned on or off for everyone at once. Now, you can leave it disabled by default, then enable it for individual conversations (or vice versa).

The default setting is still found in Settings > Messages > Send read receipts. To change settings for a specific conversation, open the conversation thread, then click on the "i" button and toggle "Send read receipt." This setting automatically syncs across all Apple devices connected to your iMessage account, which is very convenient.

Camera control.
