The border of the municipal formation of the Druzhnogorsk urban settlement was established in accordance with the law of the Leningrad region dated December 16, 2004 No. 113-oz “On establishing boundaries and granting the appropriate status to the municipal formation to the Gatchina municipal district and the municipal formations within it.” Druzhnogorskoye State Enterprise borders in the north - with the Siverskoye urban settlement, in the east - with the Vyritsky urban settlement, in the west - with the Rozhdestvensky rural settlement, in the south - with the Luzhsky municipal district of the Leningrad region.

Druzhnaya Gorka urban settlement is located in the southwestern part of the Gatchina municipal district, the distance from the town of Druzhnaya Gorka to the city of Gatchina is 45 km, to the nearest large railway station. Siverskaya - 12 km. The St. Petersburg-Luga railway runs through the territory of the urban settlement, there is a Stroganovo railway station and a Lampovo stop.

The village arose at the beginning of the 19th century near the Druzhnaya Gorka glass factory, founded in 1801 by German entrepreneurs Ritting. According to the map of F. F. Schubert in 1844 the village was called Glass Druzhnogorka. The village near the glass factory, with the exception of 9 Orthodox Christians, was inhabited by Germans, however, under the guardianship of I. Riting, a parochial school operated in it. In the 19th - early 20th centuries, the village administratively belonged to the Rozhdestvenskaya volost of the 2nd camp of the Tsarskoye Selo district of the St. Petersburg province. According to the “Memorable Book of the St. Petersburg Province” for 1905, the Druzhno-Gorka estate with an area of 300 acres belonged to the hereditary honorary citizen Ivan Efimovich Riting, in addition, the “Ritting Glass Factory Society” owned 45 acres. The German-Finnish Lutheran house church in the village of Druzhnaya Gorka was built in a wooden building at the end of the 19th century and closed in 1925. The status of an urban-type settlement has been since May 16, 1927. Friendly Gorka was liberated from the Nazi occupiers on January 30, 1944. On January 1, 2006, the municipal formation “Druzhnaya Gorka Urban Settlement” was formed, the village of Druzhnaya Gorka became its administrative center.
