Cheap rates for calls from abroad to Russia.

Tried to find here interesting offers telecom operators for calls to Russia from abroad and accessible internet. I reviewed several proposals and this is what I found out - almost everything is bad. Cheap rates for calls from abroad to Russia, ordinary operators do not have. By the way, I would be grateful if you add your information in the comments, maybe I missed something.

I did not consider several Megafon SIM cards that I have for the simple reason that I have MTS as the main operator. This time I wanted to reduce the number of incoming to zero and relax. Therefore, it was possible to use Megafon, but the tariffs did not please me. Some kind of game. Internet prices have dropped last years very, very much, and operators, carabases of the twentieth century, are still trying to squeeze a pretty penny from users. And such a fat penny.

Roaming MTS

So, here's what I found out. Cheap rates for calls from abroad to Russia are not about MTS.

Roaming MTS with the option "Zero without borders" enabled
Outgoing calls to Russia per minute RUB 60.00
Outgoing calls to Russian numbers RUB 60.00 1st minute
RUB 25.00 from 2nd to 5th minute
RUB 60.00 from the 6th minute
RUB 60.00 Outgoing calls to numbers of the host country (call a girl)
RUB 135.00 Outgoing calls to numbers of other countries (a bit expensive for a foreign friend to call on a trip)

+Daily fee for using the option "Zero without borders" 95 rubles

Let's do the math, Senor Pinocchio

950 rubles per option will be released for 10 days

10 minutes to Russia 60+25*4+60*5*10=4600 rubles

Call a girl during the day on the beach, in the room, and in stores we can scatter 60 * 10 * 10 = 6000 rubles

In total, for 1 person with calls for 20 minutes a day, the amount is 11,550 rubles for 10 days. Nothing like that, right?

The minimum, of course, will be less. If you call for a minute on average in Russia and within the country, you get "only" 2150 rubles per person. A little better, but still a lot.

Having run through the sites of tourist telephony operators, I came to the conclusion that there was a connection without a call-back, somewhere more expensive, somewhere cheaper, but either there are no two cards available, then tariff conditions some are not very clear. Well, you know these operators.

And drew attention to his own. Last time I used their card about two years ago, so I wanted to know if everything is as good as it was before. Yes, it turned out to be fine.

Tourist

How calls to Russia and Turkey cost 375 rubles instead of 2580 for 43 minutes of calls.

I bought a pair of SIM cards for 650 rubles with a balance of $ 10 on each. In other stores, one card costs 1300 rubles. I don’t like the messenger, to be honest, but here I just pleased.

An additional HELP card is attached to the card, some other bonuses to the account, but everything is not so simple there, you need to put another 10-20 dollars to get 3 extra. Such a lure.

The simplest thing turned out to be to buy a card (does not work in Russia, only activation and balance check and is sold without a passport), insert it on the plane and use it without fear of losing tens of thousands of rubles. Yes, don't forget to turn on "Favorite number", this option allows you to make cheap calls to Russia to landlines.

In total, for two it turned out to be about 700 rubles instead of 5000. Is it economical? I think yes. I recommend.

Based on the results of a TelecomDaily study conducted in June 2014, it can be concluded that Russians are not sufficiently aware of the services mobile operators in roaming. More than 35% of respondents take their phone with them on a trip just for the functions of a camera or an alarm clock, not intending to use it for communication.

Meanwhile, each of the so-called " big three» operators hold various promotions for communication in roaming at minimal cost.

So, Megafon offers at least two options for saving: "Communicate without borders" (incoming - 0 rubles, SMS - 5 rubles) and "Preferential roaming" for the CIS countries and the Middle East (the cost of an incoming call is 15 rubles, outgoing - 25 rubles, SMS - 7 rubles).

MTS subscribers are also provided wide selection discounts. For example, with the Zero Without Borders service, incoming calls are free, although you will have to pay up to 25 rubles per minute for outgoing calls.

Beeline subscribers also have a lot of options: with the Country to Order service, a 50% discount on calls from any selected country is provided, and by activating Voiced Roaming you get the same discount on incoming calls anywhere in the world. It is clear that you will have to pay for discounts: from 13 to 30 rubles per day.

Tourist SIM cards

Special travel SIM cards will also help you save money while traveling. Often the quality of communication with such a card is much higher than when using services Russian operators. Travel SIM-cards work in many countries of the world, they do not have a subscription fee. A single price for all calls and SMS messages in any country is another plus. A good range of travel SIM cards can be found here.

Smartphone with two SIM cards

A profitable purchase for a trip abroad can be a phone or smartphone with two slots for SIM-cards. Among latest models of this class - Highscreen Yummy Duo with a large display and a 5-megapixel camera. It can combine two SIM cards from different operators(someone has cheaper outgoing calls, some have SMS), or, alternatively, use your SIM card and card at the same time local operator. Such a tandem will allow colleagues to reach you at a regular number (suddenly something urgent), and a cheap local tariff can be used to communicate with the house.

Also, the smartphone will allow you not to get bored during the flight (equipped with a 4.3-inch Highscreen display - good alternative both media player and game console or reader), and will give the opportunity to take pictures and shoot videos in good quality thanks to the 5 megapixel camera.

IP telephony

Using IP-telephony services is another way to save on roaming calls. For example, connect SIPNET or
Skype, with which it is easy to make a call from anywhere in the world. For a mobile phone, the NetCall application is additionally installed. Communication between clients within the same network is free, and calls to landline and mobile phones are several times cheaper than those of operators cellular communication(calls to Egypt - about 4 rubles). The main thing is to connect to the hotel Wi-Fi, because Mobile Internet roaming is fabulously expensive.

The fault was, in my opinion, a real trifle - cellular communications in roaming. “Well, - I convinced my husband, - can I not warn my mother that we flew well? Yes, I understand that you do not want me to call home every day, but she is worried! There - they say on TV that there are thieves and bandits all around! I need to call and I will find a way not to empty the family budget! My husband, after my tirade, looked at me longingly. And I already decided not to tell him that a friend from work asked me to bring her a snakeskin purse. How can I refuse her? But, of course, you will have to call her from the store and briefly, in fifteen minutes, describe everything that is. In general, the communication problem needed to be solved. And fast.

Communication on vacation is a necessity, not a luxury

Of course, I remember all of our previous multi-thousand call bills, so I was full of determination before leaving. First, I called my cell phone operator. The consultant gladly offered me some kind of service, supposedly capable of reducing the tourist's spending on communication. Savings, however, began only from the third minute, while a rather large amount was debited from the account daily for using the service.

I know these "profitable" offers, they seem to be beneficial only to mobile operators. In addition, in order to conclude an agreement, it was necessary to go to the office at the other end of Moscow, and it was after these words of the operator that I hung up. Failure only added to my determination, and I tried to learn more about special sim cards for tourists. In the communication salon, they again promised me savings and, believing, I bought one. Trouble started at home. In the instructions for the “miracle sim card”, I read that it needs to be activated by some command, but I could not deal with it. My husband did not help me, but only studied their "favorable" tariffs and ... sent the "miracle SIM card" to the deepest drawer of the desk.

To be honest, I have simply resigned myself to the fact that I will simply have to pay 5-6 thousand rubles for communication, like last time. The husband reached for the phone. “Hey old man, how are you? You are in Moscow? When back to Europe? Listen, traveler, your help is needed. How do you call home from there? Or does the job pay? I'm sorry, what? What other service? Three or four rubles a minute?! And what, in any country of the world works? You're kidding! Wait, let me write it down. How? NetCall?

Immediately after that, the husband opened the laptop and began to read. "Listen," he exclaimed, "it's Russian service! SIPNET company, low rates, many payment methods. There is no connection fee, the tariff is visible immediately when you call, you can use it on any phone!

The husband said that NetCall is an application for mobile phones. Installing it is simple, but it works like this: I enter a number, the program sends it to the server via the Internet from a phone or a regular SMS, and I receive incoming call. The cellular operator does not take money for incoming money by law, and NetCall communication services are paid separately and are very cheap. I realized that common sense seems to have finally won. We immediately installed the program on our phones.

The program asked if I have Account, and when I answered in the negative, I immediately sent an SMS with my identification number and password. The husband explained that the program is not only for calls from abroad, you can use it anywhere, it is only important to insert a "local" SIM card into the phone in each country. “Where can I get it,” I asked my husband. And from Russia you can call with your own. The tariff for Moscow or the region is about the same as for operators, but calling to other cities and countries is much cheaper.”

Mobile communication on trips is always a bit of a "pig in a poke". It is difficult to understand the tariff plans of cellular operators, it takes a long time to calculate the costs. Therefore, the debt for communication services often comes as a surprise to the traveler.

If the internet is important

A win-win option is Wi-fi in a hotel or cafe. But if you constantly move around the city, it is inconvenient to use it. It is better to buy a tourist or local SIM card.

About good local rates you will be told at the reception of the hotel or hostel where you are staying. Do not ignore communication stores: go to several, ask for prices and choose the appropriate tariff.

An interesting life hack for trips to Europe - Prepaid Sim Card. Many operators have such SIM cards, and they are often sold directly at the airport or big stores. For registration, they may ask for a passport.

Internet tariffs for Prepaid Sim Card are fabulous: from 5 euros per gigabyte. For example, mobile operator Cosmote in Greece sells 5 gigabytes for 30 euros. The SIM is valid for 30 days.

The most profitable tourist SIM card on the market this moment- Drimsim. Everything is simple here: you buy it in Russia before leaving, put it in your smartphone and go on a trip.

Funds are charged for the traffic that you use. Prices are per megabyte, but differ from country to country. For example, in England or Thailand, a gigabyte costs 10 euros, and in Germany and France - 25.

Cheap internet calls

If you have a constant inexpensive Internet and a smartphone, you can call Russia almost at home rates. How?

Insert the SIM card with inexpensive internet and install the appropriate application. MegaFon has eMotion: with it, incoming calls to Russian number are free, and outgoing calls cost a maximum of 1.5 rubles per minute.

It is beneficial for MTS subscribers to install MTS Connect. For outgoing calls, minutes from your package are deducted, and incoming calls are free of charge. It is necessary that the phone has an MTS SIM card, otherwise the application will not work.

Tele2 offers Wi-Fi calls service. You also install the application and talk if you have Internet access according to your tariff plan.

There is no application for Beeline subscribers yet. But you can install, for example, AvoApp - it is available for both Android and iOS. In the application, save a Russian number using call forwarding and you will be able to receive calls in roaming at the price of local ones. For outgoing - about 5 cents per minute.

If you do not want to buy a SIM card for the Internet, just connect to any free wifi- everything will work the same.

Have a good travel!

Operators are tired of losing money.

A few years ago, when mobile messengers were just starting to capture the user audience, operators faced global problem. An increasing number of subscribers began to prefer applications such as Viber, Telegram, WhatsApp or Skype instead of traditional SMS messages, and instead of a package of services for sending short messages began to choose tariff plans with internet traffic.

Today, the possibilities of messengers have been replenished with voice calls. Thus, if you have an Internet connection, even with a low throughput, it is much more profitable for a subscriber to make a call through services like Skype Out or Viber. And if in the domestic market operators do not feel this choice of the user in the same way, then international calls have a significant impact on profits.

For comparison: the average cost of domestic calls (within the country) is about $0.01 or 0.95 rubles. When calling abroad, the price increases to $0.14 per minute.

The whole problem with this approach on the part of VoIP telephony services is that they violate Russian law. Traffic passes through the Internet without passing through any Russian operator, and this action must be strictly observed and is one of the conditions for joining the communication networks of the Russian Federation.

Two years ago, attempts were made to introduce amendments to the law "On Communications", but the reaction from the public was too violent and the project was postponed. The issue of blocking is still very acute, but now the operators have decided to act together and not force things.

Currently, several operators have started a joint project at once for blocking voice traffic going around. Among them: T2 RTK Holding (Tele2), Megafon, Rostelecom, MTS, VimpelCom, MTT.

According to one of the representatives of the Russian operator MTS, such a connection between telephone networks and the Internet leads to significant losses in the quality of communication. Meanwhile, about 40% of international traffic to the territory of the Russian Federation passes in this way, which, according to rough estimates, is about 80 million minutes per month. For Russian operators, this figure turns into losses: from $115 million to 2 billion annually.

And if in the near future you can't get through to distant relative or a friend living in another country, know that operators are worried about the quality of service and want the subscriber to be comfortable.
