In Windows 10, you can find one very interesting feature called Miracast, which can transmit image and sound wirelessly, in other words, via Wi-Fi. Thus, if you want to watch a movie on a large TV and monitor, connect Miracast.

How to connect a TV or monitor via Miracast?

To get started, make sure that your TV or monitor supports a wireless network (Wi-Fi), and now let's get down to business.

On your Windows 10 computer, hold down the keyboard shortcut Win+P and immediately opens the "Project" section on the right. At the very bottom we find the item "Connecting to a Wireless Display" and click on it.

What to do if Miracast is not working?

As you can see, we performed a minimum of actions and the connection took us less than five minutes. But, as always, there may be some problems, and here, by the way, what are they.

No Miracast support

In other words, your Wi-Fi adapter simply does not support Miracast, or the necessary drivers are not installed for the adapter. This is true if you do not have the "Connect to a wireless display" item.

If the item is still there, then when you click on it, you can see a message telling us that the device does not support Miracast. Therefore, for many, this article may be useless. Of course, you can purchase another Wi-Fi adapter that supports this technology.

You have a laptop or other device with a wireless adapter that is from, say, 2012 and later. While doing this, you notice that Miracast is not supported. Most likely, the problem here is in the drivers, for example, they were installed incorrectly. I advise you not to rely on the system to install everything itself, so it's better to go to the official website of your adapter and download the latest drivers from there, and then install it.

If there are no drivers for Windows 10 for your devices, don't despair. Download what data, for example, may be present for Windows 8, they may also be suitable.

With the appropriate software, you can project your iPhone or Android screen onto a Windows computer. Why might this be needed? You may want to use a mobile device with a larger display. You may want to view photos, videos, play games, or access content from your device on an offline computer. Two third-party programs that mirror the screen of your phone or tablet in Windows can help you with this. These utilities are LonelyScreen for iOS device and Vysor for Android. Let's take a closer look at both programs.

Lonely Screen

First of all, download and install LonelyScreen on your Windows PC from the LonelyScreen website (http://www.lonelyscreen.com/download.html). Then connect your iOS device to your computer. Launch LonelyScreen if it's not already open (Screen 1).

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen on your iOS device to open the Control Center. Tap AirPlay Mirroring. One of the items on the list will be LonelyScreen (Screen 2).

Android users: Vysor

Let's turn to Android devices. Here, the process is more complicated than setting up to display the iOS device. But unlike other options, like using Cast on some Android devices, it's more versatile. You need to follow these steps:

Connect your Android device to your computer. Screen projection requires a development feature called USB Debugging to be enabled. Open the Settings menu on your Android device, tap About device under System, and then tap Build Number seven times. Return to the Settings menu and you will see the setting for the developer (Developer) in the System section. Tap Developer settings and then settings for USB Debugging to turn it on.
Download and install the Google Chrome browser if you don't already have it.
Using Chrome, search for the word Vysor to download the program from the Google Chrome Web Store. Click the Add to Chrome button on the Vysor page. On the Chrome app page, double-click the icon for Vysor to launch the program. Click the link at the bottom of the Vysor page to download the ADB drivers for Windows (Windows 10 users should click the link to download the latest ADB drivers).

your PC must be running Windows 8.1 or higher;
your TV must be modern and support Miracast or Screen Share (the name of the technology depends on the model).

To duplicate a display, follow the steps below.

Turn on your TV and make sure it's connected to Wi-Fi. This happens differently on different models. Here is an example for LG.

Press the "Smart" button on the remote control.

After that, a menu will open for you.

You need to navigate (using the right arrow on the remote) to the "Screen Share" application. After that, click on the "OK" button.

Immediately after that, you will start the desired utility.

From now on, the TV will be in standby mode. Pay attention to the device name.

Now press on your laptop or computer on the keyboard shortcut Win + P. A menu will appear on the right side of the screen, in which you need to click on the link “Connect to a wireless display”.

After that, you will need to wait until Windows finds your TV.

The name that was specified earlier should appear in the list.

Click on this device to start the connection.

Immediately after that, a picture from a PC or laptop should appear on your TV display.

Connection problems

When connecting, the following error may appear.

You can correct the situation as follows.

Click on the "Start" menu and click on "Settings".

Go to the "Devices" section.

Firewall problem

If you still cannot connect, then the problem may be your antivirus, or more specifically, your firewall. This traffic protection system works differently on different programs. First, try disabling this feature completely. To do this, right-click on the antivirus icon in the tray and select the desired item.

After that, repeat all the steps above to connect to the TV. If this time everything works out, then the problem is in the firewall. But keeping it off all the time is not an option.

As a rule, by default it works in automatic mode. You need to switch to interactive mode. You can do this with the following steps.

Open the antivirus window.

To start the settings, press the F5 button on the keyboard. In the window that opens, go to the "Personal firewall" section and expand the "Advanced" category.

Switch "Filter Mode" to "Interactive".

Save the settings by pressing the "OK" button.

Update Drivers and Firmware

Many issues can be resolved by installing the latest wireless and graphics drivers on your computer and the latest firmware on your wireless display or Miracast adapter.

Can't connect to wireless display

Do the following.

Make sure your computer is turned on and connected to WiFi.

Restart your computer. Restart your wireless display and adapter. If you are using an adapter, unplug the adapter from your TV or monitor, restart your device, re-insert the wireless display adapter into your TV or monitor, and try projection again.

If you are using a wireless display adapter, set the video source to the appropriate HDMI port (the one that the wireless adapter is connected to). To do this, check the video source settings on your HDTV, monitor, or projector. Instructions can be found in the documentation that came with the device or on the manufacturer's website.

If the adapter is not connected, open Notification Center, click All settings , click Devices , and then Connected devices. Click Add device, and then select your wireless display or wireless display adapter.

Text is fuzzy or images freeze on the display
