Post office hours on weekends. What are the working hours of Russian post offices?

Most post offices located in Russian cities operate according to a single schedule, which includes five full working days on weekdays, a “shortened” Saturday and a day off on Sunday.

Typically, post office working hours are distributed as follows:

  • Monday through Friday– from 8.00 to 20.00, lunch break from 13.00 to 14.00;
  • on Saturday– from 9.00 to 18.00, lunch – as on weekdays, from 13.00 to 14.00.

However, depending on the specifics of work and the “load” of a particular post office, the schedule may be adjusted. Thus, Russian Post offices operating in small towns or sparsely populated residential areas may open an hour or two later and finish work earlier (for example, work from 9 to 16 without lunch). On the contrary, branches located in the center of large cities work until 10 pm without a break for lunch.

How does the post office work on Sunday?

On Sundays, most post offices are closed, but city residents in most cases have the opportunity on weekends to send a parcel, parcel or registered letter at the main post office, which usually works on a busier schedule - without days off or lunch breaks.

The main post office's operating hours are usually as follows:

  • Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.,
  • on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

In addition, in large cities, not only the main post office, but also several post offices located in different areas of the city may be open on weekends. As a rule, on Sunday they work only in the first half of the day and without lunch, starting work at 9 am and ending at 14 or 15.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, in addition, there are Russian Post branches that operate 24/7 - that is, around the clock, without days off or breaks. In Moscow, this is the central post office on Myasnitskaya, 26 (Chistye Prudy metro station), branches on Smolenskaya Square 13/21 (“Smolenskaya Square”) and on Uralskaya Street, 1 (“Shchelkovskaya”). In the Northern Capital, only the St. Petersburg post office on Pochtamtskaya Street 9A (Admiralteyskaya metro station) operates in this mode.
