What should I do if my Acer tablet won't turn on? My favorite tablet, on which it was so convenient to read books and enjoy games, suddenly stopped turning on. Here are some reasons and solutions to them:
- Discharged battery;
- Power button broken
- Power connector failure;
- The Android operating system has crashed;
- Internal mechanical failures;
- Service Center recommendations.
Discharged battery
A common problem with a tablet not turning on is a dead battery. Therefore, first of all, connect your Acer device to the charger and wait until the charge indicator appears. If the battery no longer holds a charge, then it is better to replace it.
Power button broken
This problem occurs due to frequent on-off. Each element has its own service life, perhaps it has ended on the Acer tablet. There are two reasons - a broken button lever and loose contacts. The Acer Iconia Tab A510 tablet was received for repair. The device did not turn on. Started diagnosing. The motherboard installed in the tablet is available for download. We started the test by measuring the voltage at the battery. It is not difficult to guess that there were no 3.7V needed for the start on the batteries. We found a defect in the BQ24171 charger circuit, there was no 12V from the network on the PR7 current sensor, respectively, the battery was not charging. The reason for this was the failed PQ23A.
It is important to note that all the time we applied voltage to the +12V input not using the original PSU, but by soldering the LBP terminals to PD1. More on this later, at the bottom of the article, in the section "Acer A510 power supply repair"After replacing the mosfet, the tablet began to consume more than 1A, the battery started charging, the red charging indicator diode lit up. But the tablet did not turn on. began to check the power circuits, look for the reason for not turning on.
After applying 12V to the board, the PU1 charger should raise VDD_3V3_BQ24171_VREF (enebl signals for PU2, PU4, etc.), which, together with + VIN, organize power supply to the secondary circuits. I described everything very roughly, in fact, everything is more complicated, you can figure it out according to the scheme, since during the test, all the power supplies at this stage were normal, all microcircuits, except for PU7, worked properly. The problem turned out to be in the PU7 output stage circuit, namely, there was no power supply to VDD_1V8_GEN, there was a short circuit in the output from the inductance PL15 (see photo). The voltage VDD_1V8_GEN generated by the PU7 PWM controller is very significant in the operation of this circuit, since it organizes the power supply of the PU1 processor, RAM, and is the input voltage for the power drivers of such important circuit blocks as the g-sensor, tablet camera, audio codec, etc. .

We removed the coil, it became clear that the short circuit was not from the side of the PU7 shim. Having picked up the charge, and in time applying 1.8V from the laboratory power supply to the circuit when the tablet was turned on, we saw the indication and the Acer splash screen. The tablet turned on. We eliminated the short circuit in the circuit, returned the inductance to its place, and completely restored the operation of the tablet.

The failure of the power supply is a typical problem for this model. A new unit is expensive, but you can remake any 12V 1.5A power supply. How to remake the power socket can be found on the Internet, and there is nothing complicated, you just need to cut the connector and deal with the "Acer contact group".

In our case, the problem was just with poor contact between the socket and the connector. The photo shows that + 12V power is supplied to the board through the 4th leg of the connector. But there was no contact, because of the worn plastic in the socket. We found 3 unused contacts in the connector, and it was through them that we missed the power supply, shorting 4-6 legs of the connector. Then, in the reverse order, they assembled and soldered the nest, filled it with "epoxy". The tablet began to see the network normally and charge. Photo result: 
After such cleaning, the tablet will return to the standard form for this model, as if it were out of the box. Consider all methods of system reset. Any hard reset looks like a reboot of the tablet with the formatting of information in it. In each specific case, the operation can be performed in different ways, for example, by clearing the SD card or resetting the pattern.
Before resetting system settings don't forget to save your data located in the tablet (sms, contacts and other records). After a reset, all user entries are erased from memory along with the settings.
